The International Casting Directors Association (ICDA) e.V. is proud to announce that its 2023 Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting will be presented at this year’s FOCUS conference in London. 2pm – Presentation of the 2023 Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting
The International Casting Directors Association proudly established the ICDA Award for Excellence in Casting in 2016, and has continued to recognise outstanding achievements in casting by our colleagues – members and non-members alike – every year since.
As of 2020, our award has a new name, the Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting, along with a statuette designed by Swiss master sculptor Peter Hartmann.
The ICDA’s purpose in creating this award was to shine a light on the pivotal role that casting directors play in the creative process of filmmaking.

3:15pm – FOCUS Panel: INTERNATIONAL CASTING: THE INSIDER’S GUIDE
The ICDA have teamed up with FOCUS to present a panel on international casting, which will take place at 3:15 pm GMT on 6th December at FOCUS, London.
As productions become more global, and authenticity in casting becomes an ever-greater priority, you may find yourself looking further afield for talent on your feature film or series. What are the best practices for weaving together the perfect international cast? What are the issues to resolve (rights, regulations and other practical matters)?
The panel features ICDA members Kolade Shasi, Jenny Jue and Suzanne Smith, as well as UK producer David Parfitt. Moderator will be ICDA Board Member Cassandra Han.
6:30pm – Semiramis Award Reception
We will be holding our official award reception at the DoubleTree by Hilton London Angel King’s Cross (60 Pentonville Rd, London N1 9LA) on 6th December at 6:30pm.
