The 2023 Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting was presented at FOCUS in London on 6th Decmeber. We would like to share a few impressions of the award ceremony itself, as well as the surrounding events with you below.
On 4th December, the ICDN welcomed its members, as well as the 2023 Semiramis Award nominees at a joint dinner at Mine Mane in London.
During the day on 5th and 6th December, our ICDA team represented the International Casting Directors Association at our exhibitor stand at FOCUS. This was a first for us and we had such a great time meeting industry professionals from all over the world at our stand!
In the afternoon on 5th December, we came together at Spotlight’s new offices on Garrick Street in London to hold an Extraordinary General Assembly.
This was followed by a pre-award evening reception sponsored by Spotlight.
On 6th December, the 2023 Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting was officially presented at the Private Lounge at FOCUS in London. We were very excited to welcome UK producer Colin Vaines to announce this year’s winner.
The award went to our members Simone Bär and Constance Demontoy (Casting France), as well as Arwa Salmanova (Casting Czech Republic) for ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. As Simone sadly passed away earlier in the year, the statuette was accepted by longstanding friend and fellow ICDA member Lucinda Syson.

In the afternoon on 6th December, our members Kolade Shasi, Jenny Jue and Suzanne Smith held a well-attended panel on International Casting, together with UK producer David Parfitt and moderated by ICDA member Cassandra Han.
The day was rounded off with an official award reception at the Doubletree Hilton Angel Islington.
