The 94th Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles on 27th March 2022, and, excitedly, numerous films cast by ICDN members were nominated in various categories and three managed to win Oscars.
Congratulations to Avy Kaufman, who cast KING RICHARD. The Oscar for Actor in a Leading Role went to Will Smith for his portrayal of Richard Williams, father and trainer of tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams. Avy also cast THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE starring Jessica Chastain. She managed to secure the award for Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Tammy Faye Bakker, from her humble beginnings growing up in International Falls, Minnesota through the rise and fall of her televangelism career and marriage to Jim Bakker. The film also received an Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling.
Congratulations also to Deborah Aquila, who cast CODA. The Oscar for Actor in a Supporting Role went to deaf actor Troy Kotsur, who played Frank Rossi, a fisherman and the patriarch of a family whose wife and son are also deaf.
